After years of working in show business as a dancer and choreographer, where I explore the spacial dimensions of dance, I now share my peaceful home in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines with travelers from all over the world.
Dancer, actor and choreographer ever since the early 70s, Hans-Christian Wagner trained in jazz ballet, modern dance and acting in Vienna, Munich, London, and New York with Lola Braxton, Samy Molcho, William Milie, Larry Fuller, Matt Mattox, Arlene Philipps, Luigi, Jojo Smith and John Sharpe (former assistant to Bob Fosse).
His range of acting experience spans from Molieres LE BOURGEOIS GENTELHOMME under the direction of Jean- Louis Barrault (at the Vienna Burgtheater) to the Shakespeare-Collage SPIELE DER MACHTIGEN (Games of the Mighty) by Giorgio Strehler at the Salzburg Summer Festival.
Hans Christian Wagner performed leading parts in the musical GIGI in Berlin, in the musical MAYFLOWER (choreographed by Amadeo) at Viennas famous Theater an der Wien, as well as in WEST SDIE STORY at the Summer Festival in Bregenz. Moreover, he has been touring Germany with the musical CAN CAN, went on tour in the Netherlands and Spain with the Helen Leclerque Dance Company, performed with the French company ALTER EGO in Milan and Rome and joined the avant garde night theatre “Ludus Interuptus”.
He also played the lead in PINOCCHIO and GINGERBREADMAN for young audiences in Germany and Austria. His work with the modern dance group TanzTheater Wien inspired him to teach dance and work as a choreographer in his own right. The first solo pieces DONT LOOK AWAY and RHYTHM OF LIFE (the latter to the music of Pink Floyd) won him great critical acclaim at the choreographers competition in Vienna. The One-Man Show THAT’S ME as well as a number of jazzdance shows such as PERFORM DANCE, BROADWAY HERE I COME and DANCIN LIKE CRAZY COCONUT were soon to follow and kept him spreading his talents in various directions.
Hans-Christian taught at the European Arts Club in Greece, at Danceworks in Auckland, New Zealand, as well as at the College of Performing Arts in Melbourne, Australia, The Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Metropolitan Theater Manila and many more. Hans-Christian Wagner also ran his own dance studio The Girls and Boys Dance Studio for a number of years in Vienna, Austria.
He has changed the way fashion was presented on a catwalk and created a new style of shows for such labels as CERUTTI 1881, DANIEL HECHTER, KENZO, JOCKEY and ADIDAS (the latter in Moscow, Russia). He choreographed a tour for CHARLES OF THE RITZ and for the hair styling brands L’OREAL and WELLA INTERNATIONAL. From joining the Eurovision Song Contest with WESTEND in 1983 to his final personality show. Hans-Christian Wagner has been successfully performing all around the globe.
After choreographing the revolutionary musical EDSA at the Manila Metropolitan Theater, he decided to settle on the Philippine island of Palawan where he continues to explore his creative spirit by working as an architectural designer and as a mentor to young artists. 2013 he finished writing his book “The Sunshineboy”.
